Following where faith leads...

FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, CAPITOL HILL
INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

On Sundays, despite weather or power outages, we will always strive to have worship at the regular time. In the event that severe weather, such as snow, ice storms or flooding, the following protocol will be used in the event that inclement weather is the reason for church related events, including Bible Study, to be delayed or cancelled:

  1. The Pastor, (in consultation with the Deacon Chairman), will make a decision to delay or cancel relevant church services or events due to inclement weather.

  2. If a decision is made to cancel or delay church services, the Pastor or Deacon Chairman will contact the Church Secretary regarding the decision; if, the decision is made during the work week and during the weekend when appropriate.

  3. The Church Secretary will then contact the local media sources and provide them with the status of closings or delays.

  4. The decision to delay or cancel events relevant to church services due to inclement weather will also be sent via mass email whether it is during the work week and/or during the weekend.

  5. If church members attempt to call and receive a busy signal or get no answer, you can assume the phone lines may be down and the church is without power, meaning our offices and buildings are closed.

  6. In all cases, please use your personal discretion to determine if it is safe for you to leave your home and travel to church.
