The Church Edifice
The church edifice was built in 1972. The architecture of the structure features a sixty (60) foot bell tower with bells which ring through the organ carillon system. It has ramps leading to the main level at both the front and side entrance of the church.
The church edifice has three levels. The upper level has a balcony which overlooks the sanctuary. There are also supply rooms, electronic/media areas, cloakrooms and storage rooms on this level.
The main level of the church includes the pastoral suite, various offices, restrooms, first aid room, baptismal facilities, rehearsal rooms, reception lounge, kitchenette, cloakrooms, conference rooms, the sanctuary and the chapel. The sanctuary seats 570 people. The Kelly Miller Smith Memorial Chapel seats 85 people. Both the sanctuary and memorial chapel contain organs, pianos, upholstered seats, carpeted floors and other equipment essential for services.
The lower level houses the Martin Luther King Fellowship Hall, the George Sasser recreational room, Sunday school rooms, kitchen, library and offices. The fellowship hall can also be partitioned into three large classrooms/areas. Adjacent to the fellowship hall are dressing rooms, portable stage and storage room.
The church edifice is scheduled for renovation and addition in 2003.
