The Finance Committee is made up of seven Deacons, seven Trustees, and two members at large. The major function of the Finance Committee is to advise on the business affairs of the church. This function manifests itself in the following activities:
Preparation of the annual operational budget for adoption by the Church
Receipt and custody of funds
Payment of obligations of the church in accordance with adopted budget
Maintenance of financial reports
Production of financial reports
Monthly review of the fiscal affairs of the church
Counsel on financial matters for the church
Accounting of Funds
Regular reports of the church's finances are made by the Finance Committee to the church body at specified meetings. Reports of individual contributions are mailed periodically to members. And an external audit is periodically employed by the church.
Budget
The church operates under a unified budget. All funds collected for church purposes should be turned over to the Finance Committee. The budget is prepared by the Finance Committee and is adopted by the church body at an annual meeting.
Disbursements
Whenever an individual or an organization needs a disbursement from church funds, a request should be made in writing on a form. The request must receive approval of the Finance Committee before a purchase is made. The Treasurer writes a check for the amount requested.
